Ashley says
I love you Chinese meal recipes. Ever since having my second baby I can’t get enough Chinese food (like once every couple weeks we have it for dinner). Do you have a good cashew chicken recipe? I used to have one and I have no idea where I got it or what move it got lost in.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Thanks so much, Ashley! I don’t have one but that’s definitely a recipe I should work on developing!
Eileen says
Hi Kimberly,
I love your recipes! Made the Vollkornbrot and friends are raving about it! I was wondering if you have a good recipe for Braunekuchen?
Thank you!
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Thank you, Eileen! I don’t have a recipe for Braunekuchen, sorry. You’re the second person who’s asked me for one though so I should probably develop a recipe for it at some point :)
Vivienne says
Great teriyaki sauce ,and with minimum fuss and time for a quick kick to some salmon for supper. Happy days. Thank you Kimberly. I will return anon for more inspiration.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Wonderful, Vivienne, thank you!
Rebecca says
I was hoping you had a recipe for dill pickles – specifically I think I’m seeking a Polish recipe? I used to buy the Canadian brand Bicks “polskie ogorki” but since an American company took them over, they don’t ship to Australia. I’ve tried many commercial dill pickles but none is as good as Bicks polskie ogorki, so I hoped that just maybe you had a home made recipe equivalent ?
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Rebecca, unfortunately I don’t. I only have a recipe for Dill Pickle Relish which would be the same brine/seasonings as for making whole dill pickles, but not ever having tried Bicks’ Polish pickles I don’t know how the flavor would compare.
Suzanne Morgan says
Are you able to ship vanilla to Canada ? I am working on homemade ice cream recipes and will likely need to make my own double fold vanilla extract.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Suzanne, I don’t produce/sell vanilla commercially, I only provide the recipes :)
MEA says
Kimberly- My husband and I are big fans of schnitzel. We made your recipe and followed it exactly to the letter. The results were spectacular. A light spritz of lemon perked up the flavors. To partner, we also made your Swabian potato salad (Kartoffelsalat) with a few modifications and couldn’t wait until the next day to let all flavors marry. Braised red cabbage rounded out the meal. The evening was a great German food flavor fest!
Thank you for providing these solid recipes!
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
That’s wonderful, MEA, I’m thrilled to hear it, thank you! Your dinner sounds absolutely perfect – next time I want an invite! ;)
Cynthia Zidarin says
Hello, my name is Cindy. I purchased a steam pudding cooker at an estate sale and could wait touse it. I made your chocolate steam pudding recipe. I followedthe recipe to the letter and it plopped out of the pan, did not set up at all! What went wrong. So disgusted.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Cynthia, I’m so sorry it went so badly for you. For it not to have set at all means that too much moisture got in during the steaming process. My guess is that the pudding mold you used didn’t have a tight enough seal.
Miss E says
Hi Kimberly. I don’t usually comment on recipes I get on-line but I had to share. I used your Traditional German Schnitzel recipe and absolutely loved it!! I’m in the middle of moving therefore I had no flour:( so I mixed equal parts of almond flour with coconut flour and made sure I added extra salt. Absolutely crispy, not greasy and delish!!! Thanks for sharing.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Miss E, I really appreciate your taking the time to leave feedback, thank you! Thanks also for sharing your experiment with us using almond and coconut flour. I always have both on hand and will have to give that a try! Best, Kimberly
Janet says
I’m glad I read this before leaving Germany. I didn’t know that sauerbraten was made with cookies! Being a cookie monster, I must try this!
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Janet! Each region of Germany has its own way of making Sauerbraten and yes, some include ginger snaps, but I’d say most don’t. But whether with or without, it’s delicious!
Jane kopa says
I would love a really good sauerbraten recipe. It is a cool weather dish my mother and I enjoy making. Tips from several people who originated from Germany always suggest ginger snaps in the gravy. I would love to see your version. Great site!
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Jane, I’ve been wanting to post my recipe for Sauerbraten forever and appreciate the reminder. I LOVE a good Sauerbraten. There are different versions of it depending on the region of Germany. Some use ginger snaps, pfefferkuchen or even lebkuchen, but many omit them entirely, opting for other flavors instead. Thanks again for the request and be sure to subscribe to my blog (top right corner of the screen) so you’ll receive notifications of the latest recipes. Best, Kimberly
Lainie says
I am wondering why you do not list a recipe for Stollen given that you were raised in Germany. In my family, half German, half Irish, Stollen was a tradition for Christmas. I will be incorporating your marzipan recipe – thanks for the rosewater link – in the Stollen. It is a laborious process but well worth the effort. i also love Irish Soda Bread and make it with all kinds of fruits other than currents. I add the rind of blood oranges which I have cured in a sugar water – perhaps I could add a tiny bit of rosewater to that to make it better or separately from the cured rinds.
I will be trying your Hungarian mushroom soup – I recently made a leek mushroom soup that was very good – the carrot soup with Star Anise and the marzipan recipe. Thank you.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Thanks, Lainie. Funny you mention the Stollen, I am just gearing up to work on a new recipe to post on my blog :) No German Christmas is complete without Stollen! There are still many, many recipes I need to post. This blog is an ongoing work in progress and they’ll all be posted in time. You’ll love the Hungarian Mushroom Soup and Carrot Soup with Star Anise, they’re two of our favorites. And the marzipan is so easy to make, I never buy it anymore. Happy cooking!
Rick Casner says
I’ve written a bit for Leites so I know a little about how hard it is to get to this/your ‘level’. That said, congratulations on a very nice site.
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Thank you very much, Rick, I appreciate that.
Mary says
I have really enjoyed reviewing your recipes. I intend to make several. What a delightful site :-)
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Thank you, Mary, and welcome! I hope you enjoy each of the recipes you try!
Danielle ohanesian says
I made your Mongolian beef. Followed instructions to the t. It is the best recipe I have found yet! Instructions were perfect. It was quick to cook and tasted fabulous! Looking forward to trying some of your others! Thanks.
The Daring Gourmet says
I’m thrilled to hear that, Danielle, thanks so much for your feedback!
Debbie Alexander says
As a former food editor, I am still proficient at proof reading ingredients. I don’t know how many times I read a cookbook or a recipe on line where I find glaring mistakes in the instructions.
The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Debbie! Definitely, I find mistakes in cookbooks all the time.
