- For the Marinade:
- 1/2 cup tamari (can substitute low sodium soy sauce but tamari has a much better, richer flavor)
- 2 tablespoons mirin (can substitute sherry)
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic , finely minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons finely minced fresh ginger root
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 3 tablespoons water (for thickening the sauce at the end)
