How to Make Slow Cooker Greek Chicken
Once you’ve made the homemade Greek seasoning blend, which is quick and can be made days in advance (link provided in the recipe below), there are only three simple steps remaining: 1) Mix the sauce together. 2) Pour over the chicken. 3) Cook the chicken and add the olives and capers towards the end.
Prep time is silly minimal and the end result is simply wonderful. Super tender and moist chicken infused with the flavors of Greece and a touch of the exotic from the incredible flavor of preserved lemons.
You can buy preserved lemons at Middle Eastern grocery stores and can also find them here on Amazon. However they are extremely easy to make yourself – you just need some time and patience – and we highly recommend making your own because they taste much better than store-bought. Plus they’re fun to make!
Check out our recipe for Homemade Preserved Lemons and to learn additional ways to use this phenomenal ingredient! They will seriously change your life. Or at least the way you cook.
As already mentioned, be sure to make the homemade Greek seasoning. It beats any store-bought blends and takes less than 5 minutes to make. This homemade blend is key to the flavor of this Greek Chicken so leave the store-bought stuff on the shelf and make our BEST homemade Greek Seasoning Blend!
Let’s get started!
In a small bowl, whisk together the homemade Greek Seasoning Blend with the olive oil remaining sauce ingredients.
Pour it over the chicken in the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours.
During the final hour of cooking, add the kalamata olives and capers and spoon some of the sauce over the chicken.
Serve with some crusty bread or rice and/or a simple Greek salad consisting of chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, crumbled Feta cheese and Italian dressing.
ENJOY!

Looks fantastic. I am going to be using it tomorrow and have some ready made greek seasoning – how much should I use?
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Suzanne, sorry for the delayed response. You’ve probably already made this by now – how much did you end up using? It’s hard to recommend how much of a store-bought Greek seasoning blend to use for this because the flavor components/ratios/salt content are all different from brand to brand, so this recipe calls for a homemade Greek seasoning blend that I’ve linked to and the quantity is based on having tested this recipe with that blend.
Cathy | Lemon Tree Dwelling says
Wow – the flavor is just oozing out of this! Looks delicious…and I love that it’s healthy, too!

This is absolutely my kind of meal. I’ve used McCormick’s Greek seasoning in the past so I’m heading over to check out your homemade version. I love doing my own spice mixes!

OK, so I’ve made this twice now. . . . I’m obviously doing something wrong cause it just doesnt look right AND I”m overcooking the breast. *Very frustrating*. I think it has something to do with using a beef cube. Any suggestions, aside from thinning it out with more broth?
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Oh geez, yeah I just looked over the ingredients and realized I forgot to add the 1/3 cup chicken broth! So sorry about that, Jennifer! That would explain why it needed thinning. I’m not sure what you mean about the beef cube, this doesn’t call for anything like that. As for overcooking, that may be because it wasn’t simmering in enough liquid or it could also have to do with your particular slow cooker. I would just reduce the cooking time.

Hi KImberly, my sauce is kinda pasty…. add olive oil until it’s soupy like yours?
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet says
Hi Jennifer, just thin it out with a little more broth until you reach your desired consistency.
